This sensual pendant depicts mating Caenorhabiditis elegans worms. C. elegans is a non-parasitic nematode worm that is used extensively by biologists as a model organism. This worm has been the subject of many neurobiological studies, including a project in the zero gravity environment of the International Space Station to gain insight into the genetic basis of muscle atrophy. The C. elegans pendant model was inspired by mating between the larger hermaphroditic worm and the smaller male worm.
The length of the pendant is 4cm. Pendant shown in first two photos was printed in silver, pendant in last photo was printed in steel.
The pendant will be shipped with a sterling silver, gold-plated silver or rose gold-plated silver anchor chain depending on whether you order the silver, brass or bronze pendant. Because steel printing results in color variations ranging from more silver to more gold, I will pick the chain color that best matches the print.
