This sensual pendant depicts mating Caenorhabiditis elegans worms. C. elegans is a non-parasitic nematode worm that is used extensively by biologists as a model organism. This worm has been the subject of many neurobiological studies, including a project in the zero gravity environment of the International Space Station to gain insight into the genetic basis of muscle atrophy. The C. elegans pendant model was inspired by mating between the larger hermaphroditic worm and the smaller male worm.
The length of the pendant is 4cm. Pendant shown in first two photos was printed in silver, pendant in last photo was printed in steel.
The pendant is 3D printed in steel, solid sterling silver, bronze or brass and finished with a sterling silver, gold-plated silver or rose gold-plated silver anchor chain to match. Due to variation in the amount of bronze infusion during steel printing, the steel pendants can vary in color from silver to bronze.
