This elegant lapel pin/brooch is inspired by mating Caenorhabiditis elegans nematodes. C. elegans is a non-parasitic nematode worm that is used extensively by biologists as a model organism. This worm has been the subject of many neurobiological studies, including a project in the zero gravity environment of the International Space Station to gain insight into the genetic basis of muscle atrophy. The C. elegans model depicts mating between the larger, hermaphroditic worm and the smaller, male worm.
The C. elegans pin is 4.4 cm (1.7 inches) long and can be worn as a lapel pin or a brooch. It comes with a locking pin back to attach it securely.
The lapel pin is 3D printed in polished bronze, 14K gold plated brass, or solid sterling silver and is ready for gift giving with a gift box, polishing cloth, and care instructions.
