This sensual earring depicts mating Caenorhabiditis elegans worms. C. elegans is a non-parasitic nematode worm that is used extensively by biologists as a model organism. This worm has been the subject of many neurobiological studies, including a project in the zero gravity environment of the International Space Station to gain insight into the genetic basis of muscle atrophy. The C. elegans pendant model was inspired by mating between the larger hermaphroditic worm and the smaller male worm.
The length of each earring is 2.8 cm, and each earring weighs 2.3 g.
The earrings are 3D printed in solid sterling silver, bronze or brass and finished with nickel-free sterling silver, gold-plated silver or rose gold-plated silver hooks to match.
