These sensual earrings depict mating Caenorhabiditis elegans worms. C. elegans is a non-parasitic nematode worm that is used extensively by biologists as a model organism. This worm has been the subject of many neurobiological studies, including a project in the zero gravity environment of the International Space Station to gain insight into the genetic basis of muscle atrophy. The C. elegans pendant model was inspired by mating between the larger hermaphroditic worm and the smaller male worm.
The length of each earring is 2.8 cm, and each earring weighs 2.3 g.
The earrings are available in solid sterling silver or 14K gold plated brass, finished with nickel-free sterling silver or gold plated silver hooks to match, and are ready for gift giving with a gift box, polishing cloth, and care instructions.
