These lovely earrings are based on the rosette developmental stage of Arabidopsis thaliana. Arabidopsis is the model organism of choice for many plant biologists. It is easy to grow, developing from seed to seed in approximately 6 weeks, and has a small yet completely sequenced genome. This humble weed, often found growing out of cracks in the pavement along a roadside, has greatly expanded our understanding of plant metabolism and physiology. It is a member of the Brassicaceae, the same plant family as cabbage, broccoli and wasabi.
The individual rosettes are 1.7 cm x 1.9 cm, and each earring in cast metal weighs about 2.4 g.
The earrings are 3D printed in solid sterling silver, bronze or brass and finished with sterling silver, gold-plated silver or rose gold-plated silver hooks to match.
