This pendant is inspired by a genus of unicellular planktonic Foraminifera called Globigerina. The name is derived from the multi-globular form of the shell (the test). The small bumps on the test are what remains after the cell dies and the long, slender spikes adorning the test break off. When the Globigerina are alive, the spikes function to keep the plankton buoyant. When they die, their tests sink down and settle on the ocean floor. It is estimated that 50% of the ocean floor is covered with the "Globigerina Ooze."

The length of the Globigerina pendant below the loop is 1.4 cm (0.55 inches).

The pendant is 3D printed in solid sterling silver, finished with a 45 cm/18 inch long sterling silver chain*, and is ready for gift giving with a gift box, polishing cloth, and care instructions.

*While a 45 cm/18 inch fits most, other chain lengths are available. At checkout, write a note indicating your preference.
