This tie bar is based on the structure of B-DNA, the most common form of this important molecule. B-DNA is a left-handed helix with 10 to 10.5 base pairs per full turn. The double helix structure possesses a major groove and a minor groove, i.e. the helix is not symmetrical. In B-DNA the major groove is significantly wider than the minor groove. In general, DNA-binding proteins associate with the major groove.
This tie bar is 4.2 cm (1.7 inches long) and will fit securely to both layers of your tie plus the shirt placket. It is 3D printed in solid sterling silver, bronze, brass or 14K goldplated brass. Tie bar shown in photo is brass.
