Diese Ohrringe sind inspiriert von Drosophila melanogaster, die Fruchtfliege. Drosophila ist ein Modellorganismus mit kurzer Generationszeit, der viele Nachkommen hervorbringt, eine ideale Kombination für die Genforschung. Obwohl Sie vielleicht denken, dass sich die Fruchtfliege sehr vom menschlichen Tier unterscheidet, haben in Wirklichkeit 50 % der Fliegenproteine ein direktes Homolog im menschlichen Genom. Alle Ohrhaken sind nickelfrei. Die Ohrringe sind bereit zum Verschenken mit einer Geschenkbox, einem Poliertuch und einer Pflegeanleitung.

Transformed from disappointed to very satisfied!

After expressing disappointment with the finish and polish of the sterling silver drosophila earrings we recently ordered (relative to the website picture), I was immediately contacted by Kimberly to resolve the issue with an exchange or refund. In fact, she even took the extra step of changing the website pic and description to manage future customer expectations. In the end, we decided to let the recipient of the earrings make the decision of whether to return them or not. She absolutely LOVED them, immediately replaced the earrings she was wearing, and told us she wouldn’t part with them! We were so thrilled and impressed with Kimberly – a small business owner that works hard to make customers happy – that we placed another order from ontogenie.com!

Rough finish and NOT as pictured

So bummed. We bought a pair of the sterling silver drosophila earrings through etsy for a special person in our life. The picture on the website shows a polished, smooth, beautiful pair of fly earrings. What we received was nothing like the picture. Not polished, roughly finished, we're not even going to give these to the person we bought them for. They were expensive so we can't toss them in the trash (at least for a while). I couldn't figure out a way to post a picture of the product we received on this review.

As for the differences in texture in some of my products, my 3D printing service decides how vigorously to polish based on the details of the design, and as this is a highly detailed design with small parts, there can be variations in the extent of polishing by the service that I can't control for. I've uploaded a photo that hopefully more accurately represents the texture of the silver earrings.

a wonderful site

We wanted fruit fly earrings, and found a pair on this site. The owner was willing to make them in gold as a custom order and they are terrific. When we gave them to our daughter, a biologist who works with fruit flies, the first thing she did was examine them closely for accuracy of detail, and she was very happy with them that way. She also loves wearing them. They are comfortable and very attractive without shouting their presence. A thorough success.
