The colonial green alga, Pediastrum, is the inspiration for this pendant. Pediastrum is a freshwater colonial alga that forms an orderly geometric structure with 4 to 164 cells. If the colony contains 16 or more cells, it forms concentric rings, giving the algal colony a star-like appearance. As cells age, they acquire multiple nuclei, as can be clearly seen in each cell of the pendant design. Pediastrum is also a type of plankton because it is not independently motile and simply floats in the water.

The diameter of the pendant is 3 cm (1.2 in) below the loop.

The pendant is 3D printed in solid sterling silver or 14K gold plated brass, finished with a 45 cm/18 inch long sterling silver or gold plated silver chain*, and is ready for gift giving with a gift box, polishing cloth, and care instructions.

*While a 45 cm/18 inch fits most, other chain lengths are available. At checkout, write a note indicating your preference.

Please note: the video is a computer animation designed to show all sides of the pendant and may not accurately represent the color of the metal.
