This unusual pendant is based on the coral Astrocyathus. Astrocyathus, or Deltocyathus as it is now known, is a star coral with hexagonal radial symmetry that is related to the sea anemones. Star corals are an important group of reef builders due to their ability to secrete a calcite skeleton from their soft bodies. The jewelry recreates the calcite skeleton left behind by this organism as drawn by the German naturalist, Prof. Ernst Haeckel.
The pendant is slightly larger than 3cm in diameter.
The pendant is 3D printed in solid sterling silver, brass or bronze and shipped with a sterling silver, gold-plated silver or rose gold-plated silver anchor chain to match.
