It looks like a snowflake but it's actually a grinch, this custom design for Melanie Ohi's lab at Vanderbilt University represents the VacA pore-forming toxin of Helicobacter pylori, the culprit bacterium of ulcers and gastric cancer. Pore-forming toxins insert themselves into cell membranes in your gut and cause unregulated leakage of ions and small organic molecules across the membrane.
